Recruiter Spotlight – Brad Francis

Outside of work, what are some of your favorite hobbies or activities that help you recharge?
“I love spending time with my family and friends, playing golf with golf buddies, spending time with my children and grandchildren, or hanging out and traveling with Deanna, my life partner.”
What’s one unique approach you use to connect with candidates and build lasting relationships?
“When recruiting or vetting candidates, I try to truly understand them as a person both professionally and personally. What motivates them and what their priorities are in their next career opportunity. To connect and build that long-term relationship, you need to be engaged, listen, and then act accordingly moving forward. Too many recruiters only care about the transaction, trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, which is a disservice to both the candidate and the client.”
Can you share a specific success story from your recruiting career that stands out as particularly rewarding?
“A recent retained search for a Director level opening morphed into two roles through the promotion of an internal candidate, which I had placed earlier that year. We were tasked with finding a backfill for the promoted candidate and finding a C-Suite level candidate as part of a succession plan for a valued C-Suite employee. The result of the search was three placements, the backfill candidate, the C-Suite successor, and another C-Suite placement with one of my internal business partners valued client.”
How do you stay updated on industry trends, and how do you incorporate them into your recruiting strategy?
“I subscribe to a number of industry publications and electronic newsletters. I share this knowledge when speaking with both candidates and clients to understand their perspective, how they are being affected, and what actions they are in to take advantage of, or mitigate, the current industry trends.”
